The team at START Training offer a range of group classes with something for everyone!

Our specialised group classes are tailored towards helping you achieve both specific programming goals and your own training goals. Group classes include regular testing days in order to maximise individual performance before commencing new training phases, allowing you to track individual progress.

With personal experience across the board, our trainers and clinicians know exactly what it takes to get the most out of your body.

Initial consultations are required prior to commencing classes, for a movement assessment and background health information so our clinicians can keep an eye on you if you have any other health issues.

Adult Group Class

Our Adult Group Classes are split into 2 types of sessions with one focused toward improving cardiovascular fitness and the other based around lifting for strength improvements. Sessions involve specific structured warm ups, working sets, and use of indoor gym space and large outdoor grass space.

Our unique approach to the way that we plan and program training towards a particular physiological system minimises the risk of training plateaus and ensures participants continue to move forward and progress. Classes are structured in 6-8 week training blocks, allowing each block to build upon the last.

Adolescent Group Class

Adolescent classes are designed for 14-18 year olds who intend on developing safe lifting technique, building good habits around exercise, and improving athletic performance. Significant emphasis is placed on correct lifting technique and ensuring exercise selection is appropriate to their stage of growth and development. We believe our expertise in load progression can significantly aid performance without overload or injury to the individual. Our clinicians and trainers have extensive experience working with adolescents in a gym environment and are passionate about teaching quality movement to minimise the risk of unnecessary injuries common to this age group. We run 3 classes per week, each with a focus on one of the 3 major lifts – Squat, Deadlift, or Bench Press.

Children’s Group Class

Our Children’s Group Class centres around development of motor skills and movement mechanics in a gym and outdoor environment. This class is run twice a week for ages 10-14. For those looking to start early in the gym, this class teaches the fundamentals of lifting mechanics through body weight and resistance band exercises. We also utilise free weights such as kettlebells and dumbbells but due to the age and growth stage of children in this class, we aim to set quality movement habits before increasing loads. Furthermore, we challenge gross motor skills and cardiovascular fitness through the use of games in and outside the gym space.

Open Gym Rehab

An in-house opportunity for START Training clients to complete their rehab programs while under supervision of an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Come in and perform your assigned program using the equipment we have here at START Training.
