START training offers services for the following compensation schemes:

  • Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)

  • Medicare (Enhance Primary Care Plans)

  • Work Cover (Insurance).

  • Who can receive it?

    You may receive EP services if you have an assessed clinical need an a:

    • Veteran Gold Card; or

    • Veteran White Card and your treatment is for an accepted service-related condition

    And you:

    • have a chronic disease; or

    • are recovering after a hospital stay for treatment of a major injury or illness.

    What can you receive?

    If you are eligible for Exercise Physiology services, your exercise physiologist may:

    • provide you with a treatment plan, including the type, number and frequency of services you require.

    • teach you skills to independently manage your health condition though an exercise regime.

    How you access?

    1. Get a referral to an Exercise Physiologist covered by the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS) from your:

      • General Practitioner (GP)

      • Medical Specialist

      • Treating doctor in hospital

      • hospital discharge planner

    2. Contact us to make an appointment with an exercise physiologist.

  • You may be eligible to receive a rebate from the Medicare Benefits Schedule for Exercise Physiology services if:

    • You have a chronic condition; and

    • complex care needs being managed by a medical practitioner (including a general practitioner, but not a specialist or consulting physician) under a shared care plan or under both a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements.

    If deemed by your managing medical practitioner, you can receive rebates for up to 5 x sessions per calendar year with an allied health professional.

    If you have any questions please contact the clinic, or discuss a Medicare Enhanced Primary care Plan (EPC) with your general practitioner.

  • If you have had a workplace accident and require rehabilitation you may be covered under WorkCover to come see our Accredited Exercise Physiologists.

    Services we provided include:

    • Individual exercise interventions

    • Education sessions

    • Telehealth (pre-approval required from the insurer)
